are Ithaca Hours? | How can I participate?
Volunteer
Running a local currency system takes lots
of work. If you believe in the mission of Ithaca Hours, consider offering a
hand. There are many ways to join in, both long- and short-term:
Community Building:
We'd like to expand the Hours system to include more businesses, and we'd like
to maintain closer contact with our current members who accept Hours. Volunteers
can join in Retail Relations activities:
- Advising members on ways to circulate
the Hours they've earned; and
- Encouraging new businesses to join the
Hours system.
Growing the Local Currency Supply:
Join in the fun of giving out money by:
- Publicizing the loan program among
businesses and individuals;
- Publicizing the grant program to
community organizations; and
- Reviewing grant and loan applications;
HOUR Town:
This directory is the primary source of information about Hours for the general
public. Publishing it is a huge task. You can help bring it all together by:
- Distributing the Ithaca Hours Annual
Directory to various locations throughout the area;
- Keeping our data base up-to-date
throughout the year as new member information comes in;
- Selling ads for next year's directory;
and
- Contacting members to ensure their
listings are accurate before next year's directory is printed (a great way to
get to know other members of the Hours system).
